يتناول الكتاب الشيخ المؤرخ والنسابة إبراهيم بن عيسى حيث أنه لا يعد الشيخ إبراهيم بن صالح بن عيسى مجرد مؤرخ لحوادث سجلها التاريخ فحسب، بل هو عالم نجدي ونسابة، يمتاز بدقة الوصف وتتبع المتون وتقصي أخبارها لضمان مصداقيتها، وهو لكثرة ما نسخه، ودقة معرفته بخطوط علماء عصره وبعض من سبقه من العلماء، يعد حجة في مجاله ووجها مشرفا لمؤرخي الأحداث وحافظي تفاصيلها، وقد كلف من قبل الملك المؤسس-رحمه الله-بتكملة كتابته للتاريخ من نهاية القرن الثالث عشر، وحتى بداية القرن الرابع عشر الهجري.
