تناولت هذه الدراسة بالتحليل ملامح الاستقرار الاقتصادي في الدول العربية، ومدى استيفاء أداء اقتصاداتها للمعايير المستخدمة دوليا، والتي تضمن تحقيق الاستقرار في جوانب الاقتصاد الكلي على صعيد النمو الاقتصادي، وأوضاع المالية العامة، والأوضاع النقدية، والقطاع الخارجي. ولأغراض التحليل صنفت الدراسة الدول العربية إلى مجموعتين: دول نفطية وأخرى غير نفطية، واستخدمت تحليل مقارن لتقييم الاستقرار خلال فترتين رئيسيتين، تتمثل الأولى في عقد التسعينات من القرن الماضي (1990-1999) والثانية في العقد الأول من الألفية الجديدة (2000-2010.
