هذا الكتاب عن تاريخ تطور الري في مصر \"1882-1914\" هو في الأصل رسالة علمية جامعية، وينقسم إلى ستة فصول : يتناول الفصل الأول، جهود محمد على الارتقاء بالري في مصر، أما الفصل الثاني : فيتناول سياسة بريطانيا إزاء مياه النيل بعد احتلالها لمصر، والفصل الثالث : يتناول القناطر والخزانات ودورها في تنظيم الري في مصر، أما الفصل الرابع : فيتناول تطور نظم الري ويتعرض لنظام ري الحياض، والري بالترع والرياحات، ويتعرض الفصل الخامس : إلى آلات الري وتطورها كما يتعرض أيضا لنظام السخرة، أما الفصل السادس والأخير : فيتحدث عن أثر تطور الري ومشروعاته في الحياة الاقتصادية والاجتماعية في مصر.
