Overview
أكد المؤلف أن الكتاب يرصد الحياة العامة فى المدينة، خاصة أن معظم المعالم مهددة بالزوال بسبب حركة البناء الشرسة التى تهاجم تلك المبانى، موضحا أن هذا الهجوم على التراث المعمارى كان الدافع للتعرض إلى هذا الإرث الثقافى من خلال الصور، ولفت إلى وجود عدد من الصعوبات التى واجهت فريق العمل عند الإعداد للكتاب، ومنها أن عدد الصور كان كبير جدا وتعدى الـ800 صورة، ومعظمها من الصور النادرة، وبذلك كان هناك صعوبة فى الاختيار وتحديد الأولويات، حتى تم الاكتفاء بعرض 280 صورة فى الكتاب تعبر عن معالم تراثية مختلفة.
