هذا الكتاب، هو محاولات في قراءة الشعر العربي المعاصر. فنقرأ، ثلاث قصائد لثلاثة شعراء. \"أنشودة المطر\" للسياب. و\"مفرد بصيغة الجمع\" لأدونيس. و\"سرحان يشرب القهوة في الكافتيريا\" لدرويش. ثم تقوم تهدف هذا القراءات إلى الوصول نحو ممارسة نقدية تنطلق من النص الإبداعي أساسا بربط هذا النص بالمستوى الأدبي العام، الذي هو جزء من مستوى الإيديولوجي، في سبيل الوصول نحو القدرة على ربط النص الإبداعي بالممارسة الاجتماعية. لا يدعي هذا الكتاب، القدرة على الوصول إلى هذا الهدف النقدي. لكنه يحاول، ومن ضمن مجموعة من المفاهيم، أن يشكل مساهمة في هذا السبيل. من أجل أن تستطيع الممارسة النقدية، أن تكون قراءة ممكنة للنص الإبداعي من داخله وخارجه في آن.
