ينقسم الكتاب إلى بابين يتحدث الباب الأول هو أوضاع ميناء عدن قبل الأحتلال وبعده مشيرا إلى بدايات ميناء عدن ونشاطه الملاحي والتجاري قبل الأحتلال ثم دراسة السيطرة البريطانية عليه ذاكرا المقاومة العربية والوطنية والدولية. والباب الثاني هو إنعكاسات السيطرة الاستعمارية على ميناء عدن متعرفا سياسة بريطانيا تجاه مستعمرة عدن ومساعيها لتطويره ومنشآت الميناء وخدماته وتحليل التحولات الاقتصادية وأثر الميناء في التطور العمراني والسكاني والاجتماعي في عدن وأثره في نمو الحركة الوطنية.
