يتناول هذا الكتاب ما يتعلق بالحياة الثقافية فى خراسان فى العصر السلجوقي ويتضح من هذا الكتاب أن خراسان فى فترة الدراسة كان إقليما كبيرا وعامرا يتبعه الكثير من المدن والنواحى والقرى ويتضح أيضا أن السلاجقة يرجعوا فى أصولهم إلى قبائل الغز الأتراك التى كانت تقطن منغوليا ثم بدأوا فى التحرك غربا إلى أعالى نهر سيحون ثم إلى مدينة جند حيث اعتنقوا بها الدين الإسلامى وقاموا بدور مهم فى الصراعات القائمة في خراسان وانتهى بهم الأمر إلى الانتصار على الغزنويين في موقعة داندنقان.
