تتحدث الكاتبة والإعلامية (نورا محمد المطيري) في رواية (الجائحة) عن وبائين اثنين وليس وباء واحدا، أحدهما في الحاضر والآخر في المستقبل، الوباء الأول كورونا الذي يعصف بالعالم حاليا هو وباء سريع الانتشار وعابر للقارات، وتصفه الروائية (نورا) بأنه كـ«مسمار فولاذي مسموم يدق في رئتي العالم». أما الوباء الثاني الذي سمته «هاكفيت فهو وباء مستقبلي من وحي خيال روائي خصب يخترق عالم 2050، ويختلف عن كورونا بأنه وباء جيني تقني شديد الخطورة يهاجم النخاع الشوكي ويغزو عقل الإنسان وليس جهازه التنفسي لذا، إن كان فيروس کورنا فتاكا، فإن وباء هاكفيت المستقبلي أشد فتكا.
