يرمز المؤلف (ناظم حكمت) في مسرحية (البقرة) التي هي ليست حيوانا حيا متحركا في ضرع وقرنين، وإنما هي رمز إلى الملكية الخاصة التي تستذل الأبطال وإيفان إيفانوفيتش ليس مجرد موظف يتملق رئيسه وإنما هو رمز إلى الميت الذي يطوق خناق الحي، أيضا رمز إلى البقايا الطفيلية التي تمتص دماء الشرفاء وتهدد ورود الحرية بالذبول، وأيضا رمز إلى جحافل المنافقين والانتهازيين والوصوليين من أيتام القوى الرجعية والعملية الذين يناهضون الأشتراكية والتحرر، فيلجأون إلى تغيير جلودهم كلما دعت الضرورة إلى ذلك، فهم يكيلون الإطراء والمديح للقائد المنتصر المعقودة عليه آمال الجماهير حتى ليوهموه بأنه صانع النصر وهو روحه وعقله، وبذلك يحيلون أعراس الحرية إلى مآتم كبير عندما يتحول إلى دكتاتور بغيض.
