تتناول رواية «أجنحة في سماء بعيدة» للكاتب العراقي جمال حيدر٬ التي صدرت عن دار لندن للطباعة والنشر في العاصمة البريطانية تفصيل صغير من مشهد الانتفاضة الشعبية، التي شهدها العراق العام 1991 ضد النظام الدكتاتوري آنذاك. ويتمحور العمل حول شخصيات متناقضة المنابت والأقدار تتخذ من مقبرة وادي السلام في النجف الأشرف٬ ملاذا لها هربا من الأجهزة القمعية٬ إضافة إلى علاقتها بالمكان : القبور الممتدة على مرمى البصر تحت الشمس والغبار٬ والطرق الترابية الفاصلة بين الشواهد٬ وهديل الحمام٬ وظلال أشجار السدر الموزعة في مفارق المكان. وتتواصل الأحداث في سياق البحث عن منفذ للهروب من المصير المفزع الذي يحاصر أيامهم.
