يتناول كتاب \"جماليات الفنون الشرقية وأثرها على نظيرتها الغربية\"، لمؤلفته الدكتوره أمل نصر، البنية الفكرية والجمالية للفنون الشرقية وأثرها في الفن الغربي الحديث، متتبعا البعد التاريخي في علاقة الشرق بالغرب ووسائل ومظاهر هذه العلاقة، بدءا من طرق التجارة القديمة بينهما، وانتهاء بالاحتكاك المباشر بين شعوبهما، عن طريق الفتوحات الإسلامية التي طاولت صقلية والأندلس، وفيما بعد، بوساطة الحروب الصليبية التي زادت من اهتمام الغرب بالشرق الأدنى الإسلامي، بعد أن كانت عملية التواصل مقتصرة على بعض رحلات الحج المحدودة من الغرب الأوروبي لزيارة بيت المقدس، أو بعض العلاقات التجارية والمبادلات الدبلوماسية.
