كتاب \"طبقات الملوك\" لأبي منصور الثعالبي، مخطوط تاريخي توجد عدة نسخ منه في أنحاء متفرقة من مكتبات العالم ونظرا لكبر حجم المخطوط مما يستدعي وقتا أطول لإنجاز تحقيقه، فقد تم اجتزاء القسم الأخير منه وهو الجزء الخاص بملوك الأنبياء والفراعنة والنماردة وملوك عرب العراق والشام واليمن وحمير، وهو الجزء الأكثر أهمية في الدراسات التي يختص بها الكثير من الباحثين سواء في الجامعات أو خارجها، نظرا لما تمثله تلك الحقبة من مرحلة مهمة جرت فيها أحداث تاريخية وخطوب جسيمة غيرت وجه التاريخ في تلك المرحلة، فضلا عن جمالية الكتابة وطريقة العرض التي سرد المؤلف مادته فوضع أحداثا مشوقة أردفها بأشعار بليغة وأمثال طريفة لكبار فحول الشعراء والأدباء الذين جرت الوقائع في عهدهم أو قبل ذلك.
