يأتي هذا الكتاب \"عمان التاريخ المصور\" ضمن الجهود لإبراز تاريخ عمان بحلة جديدة، فهو لا يسهب في السرد التاريخ العماني بصورة مطولة، ولم يأت أيضا مختصرا، بل جاء وسطا في وصف الأحداث التاريخية حتى يخرج القارئ بصورة جيدة عن سيرورة هذا التاريخ. التسلسل التاريخي للأحداث التاريخية هو مزية أخرى لهذا الكتاب حيث حاول المؤلف (سيف بن خلفان بن خليفة البوسعيدي) أن يسرد أحداث التاريخ العماني حسب تاريخ وقوعها، فلا تجد هناك تداخلا في الأحداث. المزية الثالثة لهذا الكتاب هي أنه كتاب مصور يشتمل على كثير من الصور والخرائط والرسومات التي تساعد على تقريب الأحداث في ذهن القارئ وجعل الكتاب أكثر تشويقا للقراءة.
