يشتمل هذا الكتاب على دراسة واسعة عن الآلهة المصرية في تاريخ وادي النيل، ومعبودات قدماء المصريين واللغة المصرية القديمة. ويشرح فيه المؤلف (علي فهمي خشيم) الدور الرئيسي للآلهة لمقامها مقام الأمر والنهي، والحمد لله تحررت الشعوب الآن من الجاهلية الأولى واتجهت لعبادة الله الواحد القهار. الآلهة المصرية القديمة كانوا كثير ومنهم الذي عرف في كل مصر مثل آمون وأوزوريس. لكن مركز عبادة إله معين من عشرات الآلهة كان موجود في أماكن معينة وكانت كل منطقة أو مدينة لها إله معين (إله محلي). بعدما توحدت مصر تحت حكم ملك واحد أيام الملك مينا، ظهر نوع جديد من الآلهة وهو إله الدولة الرسمي، الذي كان في الأصل معبود محلي يرتفع مقامه بارتفاع المقام السياسي لإقليمه فكانت عبادته تفرض على كل المصريين.
