هذا الكتاب هو مختصر من كتب مهمة في وصف النباتات والأعشاب وفائدة كل منها والأدوية المستخرجة منها. ومن هذه الكتب كتاب الحكيم عبد الله بن البيطار المغربي المعروف بالعشاب \"الجامع لقوى الأدوية والأغذية\" ومن كتاب ابن جزلة \"المنهاج\" وكتاب الحكيم أبي الفضل حسن بن إبراهيم التفليسي.. وغيرها من الكتب المهمة في مجال الطب والأعشاب، وقد عنى المصنف بعدم التطويل والإسهاب والاقتصار على النباتات الأعشاب الموجودة، حيث كان يذكر اسم كل عشبة أو نبتة مع اسمها المتعارف عليها وأماكن زرعها وشكلها ولونها والأمراض التي تعالجها والدواء المستخرج منها. وقد رتب الكتاب على حروف المعجم، ليكون أقرب متناولا وأسهل قراءة.
