ينقسم هذا الكتاب إلى جزأين، يكرس المؤلف في الجزء الأول منه للحديث عن الموضوع الرئيسي وهو بناء جيش الكيان الصهيوني، مغطيا الفترة التي تبدأ من إنشاء الفرق الهاجاناه حتى حرب الأيام الستة في يونيو عام 1967 م، أي أنه يغطي الحروب الثلاث التي خاضتها الدول العربية مع الكيان الصهيوني. أما الجزء الثاني من الكتاب فيضم مقتطفات أصلية من البيانات والوثائق ووصفا مباشرا للمعارك والحملات التي استشهد بها ألون في كل مناسبة.
