في الصفحات القادمة التى بين يدي القارئ تعريف بالمفكر والفيلسوف فرنسيس باكون الذى ينسب إليه بناء العلم الحديث على أساس التجربة والاستقصاء، وينقسم هذا إلى قسمين الأول : شمل قسم عن باكون ويشمل النظر في عصره ونشأته وأخلاقه ورسالته الفكرية ومكانته الأدبية. والقسم الثانى : من باكون يشمل بعض المختارات التي كتبها والتي يخلد بها بين رجال القلم ولا تنقضى قيمتها الفكرية أو الأدبية بانقضاء فترة من فترات الثقافة الإنسانية أو الثقافة الاوربية، وهذه الصفحات التالية تعرف به من لا يعرفه، وأنها تضيف شيئا ولو اليسير إلى وجهات النظرالعديدة إليه في رأى عارفيه.
