الكتاب يحكي أنه قد كان للأديب النحوي الفقيه المتكلم أبي بكر عبد القاهر الجرجاني، قدم راسخة ومكانة عالية في علم البلاغة، حيث صار ينسب إليه وحده تأسيس هذا العلم وكتابه الموسوم \"بدلائل الإعجاز\" هو خير دليل على ذلك وهو كتاب بديع في بابه، تفرد فيه صاحبه بتأسيس نظرية النظم التي هي عمود الدراسات اللاغية والتي لولا ما رسمه لها الجرجاني واختطه فيها من علامات لضلت خطى الناس من بعده في هذا العلم. وما زال هذا الكتاب مثار اهتمام الباحثين والدارسين في علم البلاغة إلى يومنا هذا، لذا فقد تم في وشرح غريبه، هذه الطبعة، الاعتناء به، حيث قام المحقق بتخريج شواهد هذا الكتاب تخريجا وفصلا وبيان مراد مؤلفه من كلماته وألفاظه ما أمكن، مع بعض التعليقات حيث يستوجب ذلك.
