يقدم الكتاب سيرا مختصرة عن نساء عربيات أسهمن في التاريخ والحضارة الإسلامية ؛ فكانت منهن من آوى بيتها الرسالة النبوية، وبذلت الجهد والمال لنصرة الدين مثل \"خديجة بنت خويلد\" ؛ أول من آمن بدين الإسلام وصدق نبيه وناصر دعوته أمام طواغيت قريش، والتي أنجبت للنبي (صلى الله عليه وسلم) سيدة عظيمة أخرى، هي \"فاطمة الزهراء\" أم الشهيدين (الحسن والحسين)، والحانية التي ضربت المثل في العطف على الأيتام والمساكين، أستطاعت النساء أيضا تولي الحكم وإدارة شئونه كما فعلت \"شجر الدر\" ملكة مصر المحنكة، التي تمكنت من تصفية الوجود الصليبي في البلاد وإدارة المفاوضات مع ملك الصليبيين الأسير \"لويس التاسع\". يحفل الكتاب بنماذج نسائية أخرى لمعن في مجالات كالأدب، والتصوف، والسياسة.
