في هذا الكتاب يعالج الدكتور مصطفى غالب ما يتعلق بالتنويم المغناطيس والإيحاءات النفسية لاكتشاف الدوافع المؤدية إلى الأمراض العصبية والنفسية المستعصية. حيث يعد التنويم المغناطيسي من العلوم النفسانية الروحانية الهامة. وقد تطور هذا العلم في السنوات الأخيرة بشكل لافت كما شاع استخدامه في معالجة الأمراض النفسية والعضوية. وقد أثبت هذا العلم جدارته وعلميته فأصبح يدرس في كليات الطب، كما في كليات الآداب وأقسامه علم النفس. ولكي يتم التفرقة بينه وبين أساليب الشعوذة والدجل التي يلجأ إليها البعض لكسب المال واستغلال الآخرين فيوهمون الناس بأنهم يستخدمون التنويم المغناطيسي. كما أن التنويم المغناطيسي هو أحد وسائل العلاج التي اتبعها فرويد.
