يتحدث الدكتور مصطفى محمود في هذا الكتاب عن رحلته إلى الكعبة المشرفة وهو في طريق الحج. يذكر فيه الدكتور بعض الأمثلة والأجوبة الرائعة التي يحاول فيها وصف الرحلة من جميع جوانبها الروحانية والتاريخية. أيضا يتكلم عن السيرة، والأماكن مثل قصة كيف خالد بن الوليد من الميمنة، وأكرمة بن أبي جهل من الميسرة، يتكلم عن جبل أحد، وكيف أحوال النبي-صلى الله عليه وسلم-في المسجد النبوي، حتى القارئ يشعر كأنه في ذلك المكان ويعيش تلك الأجواء. وفي الباب الثالث، دكتور مصطفى محمود يعطي القارئ المعنى الأعمق للهجرة وهي أن المسلم قادر أن يسيطر على نفسه وهذا سيظهر في أعماله مثل : لا يتبع الهوى، والجاه، والكبرياء، والمال، والمادة، والناس! في نهاية الكتاب، الكاتب يدخل في مبحث التصوف، وقضية وحدة الوجود.
