تركز هذه الدراسة على مقدمات نظام عبد الناصر، وعلي حقيقة القوى الفاعلة داخله، ومدى تأثيرها على عملية صناعة القرارات في النظام السياسي المصري، وعلي الصراعات المختلفة بين الأجنحة القديمة والجديدة في النظام، وعلي تحديد الطبقات الأكثر استفادة من عهد ما بعد 1952م، في مصر، وآخيرا.. حرص الكاتب على وضع النظام الناصري ضمن السياق العام لحركة الانقلابات العسكرية في العالم الثالث وذلك في مقدمة هذه الدراسة، على الرغم مما قد تحمله تلك المقدمة من صعوبات للقارئ العادي الذي تعوزه الخلفية الأكاديمية المتخصصة.
