يبحث الكتاب في آثار العولمة البالغة القوة في الاقتصاد العربي وفي مختلف جوانب الحياة الاجتماعية والثقافية والعربية، ويركز بوجه خاص على الآثار الاقتصادية على الأخص بما اصطلح على تسميته بـ \"التنمية البشرية\"، وقد أفرد المؤلف فصلا من الفصول الأربعة التي تناولت هذه الدراسة لدولة مصر فعرض إلى التطور المهم من حيث الاتجاه إلى مزيد من \"العولمة\" وذلك من خلال ما أسفرت عنه جولة الأورغواي في مفاوضات \"الغات\" من اتفاقيات دولية تنبؤ بدخول العالم حقبة تتسم بارتباط وتفاعل في المجال الاقتصادي، وبالتالي في مجالات الحياة الأخرى.
