يقدم هذا الكتاب ملامح عن مراحل حياة الفنان حامد ندا 1924-1990، التي تبدأ من الحارة المصرية في حي الخليفة بالقاهرة القديمة، وانتمائه لجماعة الفن المعاصر 1946-1955 ؛ حيث يظهر عالم ندا كعالم مغلق شخوصه يديرون ظهورهم للحياة، وتجسد اللوحات حالة أسطورية، خاصة عندما استخدم في الخلفية عناصر من السحر الشعبي والرسوم الجدارية البدائية، وتسمى هذه بمرحلة التجسيم في عالم ندا ومنها إلى مرحلة التسطيح بعد تخرجه في كلية الفنون الجميلة الملكية 1951، وتأثره بعمله كمدرس رسم وأسفاره واطلاعه على فنون الإنسان الإفريقى البدائي، ويضاف الى تلك المرحلتين تأثيرات المجتمع خلال فترة الانفتاح الاقتصادي وتحول الفنان إلى مرحلة جديدة غرضها الكشف عن التشوهات التي حدثت في المجتمع.
