Overview
يتناول الكتاب سيرة حياة ابن خلدون وهو عبد الرحمن بن محمد ابن خلدون أبو زيد ولي الدين الحضرمي الإشبيلي (1332 - 1406م)، فيحكي أنه ولد في تونس وشب وترعرع فيها وتخرج من جامعة الزيتونة، ولي الكتابة والوساطة بين الملوك في بلاد المغرب والأندلس ثم انتقل إلى مصر حيث قلده السلطان برقوق قضاء المالكية. ثم استقال من منصبه وانقطع إلى التدريس والتصنيف فكانت مصنفاته من أهم المصادر للفكر العالمي، ومن أشهرها كتاب العبر وديوان المبتدأ والخبر في معرفة أيام العرب والعجم والبربر ومن عاصرهم من ذوي السلطان الأكبر (تاريخ ابن خلدون)
