يتناول الكتاب سيرة حياة الوليد الأول بن عبد الملك الأول الأموي القرشي، أبو العباس ولد بالمدينة المنورة سنة 668 م50 هـ -71596 هـ وحكم من 705 م حتى 715 م، الوليد الخليفة، أبو العباس الوليد بن عبد الملك بن مروان بن الحكم الأموي، الدمشقي وتتحدث عن سيرته فهو الذي أنشأ جامع بني أمية. بويع بعهد من أبيه، وكان مترفا، دميما، سائل الأنف، طويلا أسمر، بوجهه أثر جدري، في عنفقته شيب، يتبختر في مشيه، نهمته في البناء، أنشأ-أيضا-مسجد النبي محمد وزخرفه، ورزق في دولته سعادة. ففتح بوابة الأندلس، وبلاد الترك، وكان لحنة، وحرص على النحو أشهرا، فما نفع وغزا الروم مرات في دولة أبيه.
