يتناول الكتاب منهج علمي دراسي لطلاب كليات العلوم والتربية والحاسبات يغطي مواضيع مقررات جبر خطي (1) و (2) التي تدرس في الجامعات العربية المختلفة، ويعتبر الجبر الخطي من أهم فروع الرياضيات لأن الجبر الخطي يدخل في كثير من العلوم التطبيقية الحديثة مثل الهندسة والحاسوب والفيزياء والكيماء وعلوم الحياة والاقتصاد والإدارة وبحوث العمليات وتذاد أهمية هذا العلم مع تطور أجهزة الحاسوب والبرمجيات. ولقد حاولت أن أقدم المواضيع بطريقة علمية مبسطة كمحاضرات تتناسب مع هذه المرحلة الدراسية مع إعطاء مجموعة كبيرة جدا من التمارين المحلولة التي تساعد الطالب في فهم أعمق للموضوع المعروض وطبعا يسبق ذلك عرض التعريفات بطريقة سهلة مباشرة ثم النظريات التي تحكم الموضوع وكلها تقريبا بالبرهان.
