في هذا الكتاب يوضح أن النصرانية ليست هي نفسها المسيحية، وأن الإسلام أخذ التسمیة \"نصارى\" عن إحدى النسخ الآرامیة أو السریانیة. ولم یتفق آباء الكنیسة على تسمیة موحدة للنصارى، والمصطلح بحد ذاته مليء بالتداعیات وسوء الفھم. الإسلام، من ناحیة أخرى، لم یمیّز بین مسیحي ونصراني. فكیف یمكن أن نترجم كل تلك التسمیات المتنوعة عند آباء الكنیسة بمصطلح نصراني، أو نصارى-القرآني.
