يتضمن الكتاب تقسيم المؤلف للدليل إلى خمس ورقات، هي : الورقة الأولى : المنطلقات، وقصد بها الثقافة البحثية الدنيا، التي لا غنى للباحث عنها، وهي في مفاهيم : المنهج، البحث العلمي، مواصفات الباحث... الورقة الثانية : المحددات، وقصد بها الأروقة الضابطة لمسار البحث، بدءا بالأهداف، وصولا إلى التخطيط، مرورا، باختيار الموضوع، والإشكالية.. الورقة الثالثة : المستندات، وأفرد فيها، إلى جانب الموارد المعلوماتية المألوفة، مبحثا خاصا بالإنترنت، التي ملأت الدنيا، وشغلت الباحث وغيره.. الورقة الرابعة : المكونات، ومفادها عناصر متن البحث وصلبه، من المقدمة إلى الخاتمة ... إلخ.
