Overview
يتألف الكتاب من سبعة فصول تتحدث عن نشأة الكواكبي والظروف التاريخية والسياسية التي عاش فيها والآثار الفكرية المطبوعة له وما أثارته من جدل وكذلك بذور العلمانية في فكر الكواكبي ومرتكزات الفكر القومي والفكر السياسي والديني عنده إضافة إلى بعض مظاهر الضعف والقصور في فكره. ويعرض عروسي في مقدمة الكتاب لأفكار ورؤى الكواكبي الذي يرى أن سلطة المال لا تجتمع مع الديمقراطية وأن القوة الاقتصادية هي أساس حرية الوطن ومنعته وسلامته وأن العمل الحقيقي هو ما يلبي مصلحة الفرد والجماعة.. أما في التربية فيشير إلى وجود مدرستين إحداهما تعتمد على القمع والاكراه والثانية تعتمد مبدأ الحرية والديمقراطية.
