يعد هذا الكتاب قراءة في الفلسفة أي محاولة للإجابة عن أسئلة فلسفية مطروحة على الساحة الثقافية، ففصله الأول يكمن في طرحه سؤال هل هناك مضامين فلسفية للحضارة العربية الإسلامية ؟ وإذا كانت كذلك فما هي ؟ بينما الثاني يجيب عن إنجازات الفلاسفة المسلمين في أدلة حدوث العام ونظرية المعرفة والنفس الإنسانية وأقسام العقل وتقسيم العلوم والمصلح الفلسفي مع نماذج من الفلاسفة المسلمين، وما معنى طرح أرسطو فكرة الشعاع الخاطف؟ يوضحه الفصل الثالث، ويختص الفصل الرابع بمعرفة المقولات العشرة، ويعد الفصل الخامس نقدا عربيا فلسفيا للفلسفة اليونانية، بينما السادس يبرز مقارنات بين ابن سينا والغزالي في رسائلهم، واختتم بالفصلين السابع والثامن وهما يجيبان عن سؤال ماهو شكل النظام السياسي الأمثل.
