هذا الكتاب يقدم مدخلا إلى تاريخ العلوم بالمغرب المسلم حتى القرن 15/ 9 م يستهله الباحث بالحديث عن علوم القرآن والحديث من خلال استعراض الظواهر والتطورات ومختلف القراءات والتبادل بين المشرق والمغرب. لينتقل بعد ذلك لاستعراض الظواهر والتطورات التي عرفها الحديث النبوي والفقه وخاصة الفقه المالكي وبعض المذاهب الأخري غير المذهب المالكي. بعد ذلك تم الحديث عن أصول الفقه والعقائد من خلال إثارة مسألة الإيمان والعقيدة في الفكر الإباضي والعقيدة الأشعرية مند القرن الخامس، كما تمت الاشارة الى بعض شيوخ علم الكلام من المغاربين.
