يرى كتاب\"مشكلة الاتحاد والتعالي في عقيدة الشيخ محيي الدين بن عربي\"، لمؤلفه الدكتور الأخضر قويدري، أن نظرية وحدة الوجود عند ابن عربي، لا تعني أبداً، حلول الله في مخلوقاته، أو اتحاده بها، بل تبين أنّ الوجود واحد، ولكن ينظر إليه باعتبارين : وحدته وأنه لا موجود بحق سواه، تكثره بأسماء وبصفاته المتجلية في العالم. وبالتالي فلا هو متحد بالعالم، ولا متعال عنه. ويلفت قويدري إلى أن ابن عربي ظل يشدد على أن الوصول إلى التوحيد الخالص المتمثل في رؤية الحق في الخلق والخلق في الحق، لا يتأتى أبداً خارج حدود الشريعة الإسلامية.
