يتركز هذا الكتاب على دراسة جزء من تاريخ شبه الجزيرة العربية في صفات واحدة سواء بيئية أو اجتماعية أو جغرافية أو حضارية، وترجع في جذورها البشرية إلى أصل واحد، ويتلاحم تاريخها مع بعضها البعض بحيث يصعب عملية الفصل القاطع بينها، حتى لو تقسمت اليوم إلى ممالك ودول وأمارات کل لها حدودها السياسية ونظام حكمها المستقل، ولسهولة التعبير سنشير إلى منطقة البحث هذه يسمی شبه الجزيرة العربية وأن كان المنطقة اليمن وحضرموت وعمان دراسة خاصة، وقد تتداخل في بعض الأحيان دراسة هذه المناطق وذلك بسبب صعوبة إيجاد حدود قاطعة للتداخلات المختلفة بالمنطقة.
