في «قصة طروادة» يروي الكاتب «دريني خشبة» ملخصا ممتعا ﻟـ«الإلياذة» و«الأوديسة». على الرغم من اختلاف المؤرخين حول الشاعر العبقري «هوميروس»، فإن أعماله الخالدة لم يختلف عليها أي من محبي الفن الإغريقي، الذي يختلف بدوره ويتميز عن كل ما سبقه وما تلاه من فنون. يقدم الكاتب في هذا الكتاب خلاصة وافية وممتعة لعملين خالدين استكثر المؤرخون أن ينتجهما عقل بشري واحد، لما يحتويانه من إنتاج ضخم وما يتجلى فيهما من موهبة كبيرة جعلت منهما خير ممثل لنتاج أمة بأسرها ؛ وهما ملحمتا «الإلياذة» و«الأوديسة». ويثبت الكاتب كذلك أن «هوميروس» هو المؤلف الحقيقي لهاتين الملحمتين، وأنه قد نظمهما لغرض التلاوة والإنشاد في المحافل ومجامع السمر، ولربما لم يتوقع إبان تأليفهما أن يصير لهما كل هذا الصدى والرنين عبر القرون.
