يتناول الكتاب الشيخ محمد بن عبد الوهاب حيث درس في نشأته العلمية الفقه على مذهب الإمام أحمد بن حنبل رحمه الله، (وأحمد هو أحمد) إمام أهل السنة، كان على قدر كبير من العناية بالدليل، وله المسند يبلغ (30000) حديثا، وقال أبو زرعة الرازي : كان أحمد يحفظ ألف ألف، فقيل له: وما يدريك؟ قال : ذاكرته، فأخذت عليه الأبواب. ومع ذلك فالشيخ محمد لا يتقيد بالمذهب الحنبلي عملا وفتوى، بل يأخذ ويرجح ما دل عليه الدليل وإن كان خارجا عنه، قال الشيخ رحمه الله مبينا مذهبه الفقهي : نحن-ولله الحمد-متبعون لا مبتدعون، على مذهب الإمام أحمد بن حنبل.
