هذا الكتاب أتى بصفحاته ليبين مدى عظم الشخصية التى يتحدث عنها بين طياته : إنه (العقاد) عملاق الفكر لعربي دون منازع ... وإذا كان هناك ما يقول أن \"الأسماك الميتة فقط هى التى تسبح مع التيار\" فإن عباس العقاد لم يمت أبدا فكان حيا دائما بموافقة السابحة ضد التيار ... فكان حقا من المؤمنين بحرية الفكر والبحث العلمي. مع هذا الكتاب نتعرف على الكثير من مواقفه التى دائما تكون مدعاة للفخر والإعتزاز كما في ثورة 1919 ودستور 1923 وثورة 23 يوليو وغيرها من معاركه الأدبية والفكرية والسياسية. فقد قام المؤلف (سامح كريم) بجهد كريم حينما تحدث فى كتاب واحد عن العقاد كسيرة ذاتية وكمواقف ومعارك.. أيضا حينما ذكر أعماله ومؤلفاته وقد نماذج من كتاباته في محاولة للإجابة عن : لماذا العقاد عملاق الفكرية العربي ؟
