نصائح في فترة الخطوبة لابد أن يعرف الخاطب والمخطوبة ـ وأهل كليهما ـ أن الخطبة لا تزيد شرعا عن أن تكون وعدا بالزواج، أو تكون عزما وتراضيا على النكاح، لكنها لا تقوم مقام عقده في شيء مما يبيحه هذا العقد خاصة، فلا تبيح الخلوة الكاملة بين طرفيها، لأنهما شرعا ما زالا رجلا وامرأة لم يجمع بينهما ذلك العقد الشرعي الصحيح الذي يبيحها هي وما قد تؤدي إليه، كما لا تبيح الخطبة شيئا من حقوق استمتاع كل من الطرفين بالآخر بدنيا.
