تربع علي عرش الشعر الحديث فكأن أمير وأمير شعراءه.. اختلطت في دمائه العديد من الأصول التى تجمع الشرقية والغربية .. تربى قريبا من القصور و أصحابها.. هذا هو (أحمد شوقى) الشاعر الذى لم تجد الأيام بمثله.. إشتهر بين الناس بأشعاره ولكنه فى هذا الكتاب يأتينا روائيا وليس شاعرا ! حيث قام الباحث (محمود على) بنفض الغبار من فوق ثلاث روايات كتبها الشاعر قبل معرفته المسرحيات الشعرية التى إشتهرت له. وقد قام - المحقق - بوضع مقدمة وافية عن الظروف التى ولدت فيها هذه الرواتات تلتها نصوصها وهى (عذراء الهند)، (لادياس) و) (دل وتيمان) وهى مستوحاة من التاريخ المصرى القديم.
