يتكون الكتاب من مقدمة وتسعة فصول وقائمة المراجع، حيث شمل الفصل الأول على التفكير وتضمن الفصل الثاني التفكير ما وراء المعرفي، أما الفصل الثالث فقد احتوى على نظريات التفكير، أما الفصل الرابع فقد تم التطرق فيه للتفكير المنظومي، إما في الفصل الخامس فقد تم استعراض التفكير الإبداعي، أما في الفصل السادس فقد تم فيه التطرق إلى التفكير الناقد وفي الفصل السابع تمت الإشارة إلى التفكير السابر أما الفصل الثامن فقد تم التطرق إلى التفكير وحل المشكلات وفي الفصل التاسع تم فيه الإشارة إلى التفكير والأهداف التربوية.
