يتناول هذا الكتاب بالعرض والتحليل والنقد والمقارنة الفكر الطبي النفسي لدى واحد من أعظم علماء الإسلام وأكثرهم شهرة ورسوخا وهو الشيخ ابن سينا الذي ترك لنا مؤلفات خالدة في شتى فنون المعرفة من أظهرها وأكثرها بقاء \"كتاب القانون في الطب\" ذلك الكتاب الذي ظل مرجعا في الجامعات الأوروبية في الدراسات الطبية، حتى مطلع القرن السابع عشر وهو الكتاب الذي تمت ترجمته إلى عشرات اللغات الحية، لقد تناول فيه ابن سينا الإنسان من قمة رأسه إلى أخمص إصبعه بالوصف والتشريح والعلاج ووصف أمراض البدن مرضا مرضا بما في ذلك تلك الأمراض التي تصيب الرأس والو\\ دماغ وما يعرف اليوم باسم الأمراض النفسية والعقلية والسيكولوجية والاضطرابات الأخلاقية.
