يعد هذا الكتاب في الأدب التركي اليوم من بين أهم الوثائق عن ناظم حکمت؛ حيث يتناول رؤيته للشعر، والرسم الذي كان يمارسه في السجن أيضا، والفن بشكل عام. بالإضافة إلى تناوله للعديد من الجوانب الشخصية في حياة شاعر تركيا الأكبر. وقد أضاف إیشیق وأوتشو ابن أورهان كمال على هذا الكتاب بعد ذلك مذكرات والده في السجن، كما أرسل إليه محمد فؤاد ابنا ناظم حکمت قسما من المراسلات بين أورهان وناظم، وألحقت المراسلات بالكتاب أيضا.
