Overview
بدأت فكرة الاحتفال بالعيد الألفي للأزهر الشريف في سنة 1349 هـ (1930 م). وكان مقدرا أن بني هذا الاحتفال بعد عشر سنوات من هذا التاريخ ، لكي يكون هناك متسع من الوقت للإعداد لهذه المناسبة الجليلة. وظلت هذه الفكرة قائمة في الأذهان حتى أتيح لها أن تدخل في دور التحقيق بصدور القرار الجمهوري رقم (271) لسنة 1982، الخاص بتنظيم الاحتفال بالعيد الألق للأزهر، وتشكيل اللجنة العليا لهذا الاحتفال تحت إشراف رئيس الجمهورية ، وېرياسة فضيلة الإمام الأكبر شيخ الأزهر، على أن يتولى محافظ القاهرة ووكيل الأزهر الأمانة العامة للجنة . وتختص هذه اللجنة بما يأتي : 1- وضع خطة للاحتفالات من حيث نوعها، وموعدها، ومدتها. 2-تحديد دور كل جهة، والتنسيق بيها. 3-تقدير الاعتمادات اللازمة، وتوزيعها، وبيان كيفية صرفها. 4-تشكيل لجان فرعية من بين أعضاء اللجنة العليا، ومن غيرهم. -إنشاء جهاز إداري ومالي لأعمال اللجنة.
