تأتي أهمية هذا المعرض في الحفاظ على الإرث التاريخي للخط العربي والأهمية الحقيقية في أن تتوارثه الأجيال بالطريقة المثلى فهو الحرف الذي أكرمنا به الله جلت قدرته لتخليد القرآن الكريم كما أنه لغة العرب ومفتاح تاريخهم الثقافي والفكري والأدبي وأهم مكونات الثقافة الإسلامية على مر العصور. حيث يأتي هذا المعرض أحد أهم المعارض السنوية ضمن خطط الجمعية العمانية للفنون التشكيلية لتشجيع الشباب وصقل قدراتهم لتهيئ للجيل الجديد المناخ المناسب للانخراط في هذا الحقل لإيصال رسالة الخط العربي.
