يعد هذا الكتاب الذي بين أيدينا تحفة أثرية قيمة حيث يضم بين طياته وصف رحلة فيودر إيفانافيتش شاليابن ورفاقه والذين قاموا بزيارة مصر خلال عام 1903 للاستجمام، ومشاهدة أماكن لا مثيل لها في أي نقطة من بقاع العالم، والتي تركت أثرا لا يمحي وانطباعات فريدة جديدة لا تنسي، وكان من بين أعضاء الرحلة هذه مؤلف الكتاب الذي يشرح قصة زيارته التاريخية إلى مصر، وانطلقت الرحلة في مسيرتها بالقطار من مدينة موسكو إلى ميناء أوديسا، ومنها إلى مدينة الإسكندرية بالباخرة من خلال التوقف في الموانئ التالية : القسطنطينية وسميرنا، وبيرية وجزيرة كريت، وما أن وصلوا إلي الإسكندرية استقلوا القطار إلي مدينة القاهرة.
