بعد مرور واحد وعشرين عاما على مغادرتي بيروت والعيش في إيطاليا... هذا الكتاب، يروي جانبا من تجربة الكاتبة ومسيرتها في بلد يختزن الكثير من واقع غني بالتاريخ والفن، العادات، التقاليد كما العنف، الثرثرة وحكاية مستترة خفية شعبية غير متداولة لا يعرفها من لم يعش على أرضه، ولا تخلو منها روايات أبرز رواد الأدب. أرادت مع تنقلها في مختلف أقاليمه ومحافظاته بعيدا عن المدن الكبرى المعروفة، الإضاءة على الجانب الآخر المهم الذي صنع إيطاليا حضاريا وثقافيا إلخ، دفعتني إليه لغتي الأم التي بت أخشى أن أفقدها... ولا أدري ما إذا الحظ أسعفني في إيصال ما رغبت وما يرغب القارئ في معرفة الجديد والخفي عن إيطاليا.
