كتاب شائق يروي فيه أحمد محمد حسنين بك أخبار رحلته على الجمل من مدينة سلوم ساحل البحر الأبيض المتوسط متجها من واحتي سيوة والكفرة نحو المجهول بدأ رحلته المحفوفة بالمخاطر التي طالت ثمانية أشهر في العام 1923 وقام خلالها بجولة من شواطئ بحر الرمال العظيم إلى مدينة الأبيض في السودان فقطع مسافة 3500 كيلو متر تقريبا وأودت هذه الرحلة إلى اكتشاف واحات أركنو والعوينات المفقودة الواقعة في أقصى الزاوية الجنوبية الغربية من مصر أعترت حسنين الدهشة عند رؤيته نقوش لحيوانات بما في ذلك رسوم لأسود وزرافات ونعامات وغزلان وربما أبقار مما دل على وجود بشري أزدهر هنا منذ عشرة آلاف سنة قبل أن يقوم التصحر بقذف هؤلاء البشر نحو وادي النيل.
