يعد هذا الكتاب علامة فارقة في الجهد الأدبي، وهو محاولة جادة لاستكشاف الأدب بتهامة، ودراسته ضمن الدراسات الأكاديمية، ويحمـد للمؤلف أنه حشـد كـل مـا أمكنه من الشعراء، واستشهد بطائفة جيدة من أشعارهم، ودراستها دراسة نجلو الركام عن نفائسها، ي لغة سلسة سهلة منسابة، لا تجد فيها ما قد يجده القارئ من الجفاف والكده الدراسات الأكاديمية. ولعل المتصفح للكتاب، والمتتبع للأدب في تهامة بوجه عام يجد أن الشعر التهامي لم يكن بمعزل عن قضايا الأمة والوطن، كما لم يغفل عـن المناسبات المحلية، أو التعبير عن الذات.
