يستعمل الكتاب منهج علم النفس السياسي لاستكشاف أثر ثلاثة عقود من من سلطة القهر في تشكيل وعي الشعب وتأثيرها على تركيبته النفسية، ويحاول تلمس خطى التغيير من فترة الاحتجاجات والاعتصام، وما يدور في المرحلة الانتقالية لتسليط الضوء على العوامل النفسية والعقلية التي شكلت مسارها. كما يعالج الكتاب أسئلة مثل : هل كتب على شعبنا صناعة الثورات العظيمة وتركها تتسرب بين الأنامل ؟ ولماذا تتعثر خطى الثورة ؟ هل هو الفشل أم مجرد منحنى في درب الثورة المتعرج ؟ وهل فقدت قوى الثورة البوصلة أم هي محطات تعلّم قد يساعد علم النفس السياسي في تفسيرها واستيعاب عواملها ؟.
