يظهر الكتاب الاهتمام المبكر لخادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبد العزيز آل سعود ورعايته للجامعة منذ تسعينيات القرن الهجري الماضي عندما كان أميرا لمنطقة الرياض، عندما كبرت الجامعة وتعددت كلياتها مع تباعد مواقعها، حينها بسيارع الأمير (الملك سلمان بن عبد العزيز في عام 1396 هـ لاختيار موقع جديد مناسب مبادرا بتبرعه بجزء من أملاكه الخاصة في الموقع الذي شيدت عليه مبانيها الحالية بطريق الدرعية، وتابع بحرص شديد تفقد بداية مراحل البناء والتشييد عبر زيارات تفقدية، وظل متابعا للجامعة بعنايته ومباركته لمشاريعها التطويرية يوما بعد يوم حتى هيء لها أن تشق طريقها نحو تحقيق الريادة العالمية كمنارة علمية عالمية تحقق تطلعات الوطن وأبناءه.
